Coal production in Tajikistan increased by 1.7 times and reached 450,000 metric tons in the past eight months of 2014 compared to the same period of last year, Avesta.Tj reported referring to the country’s ministry of Industry and New Technologies.

Coal production in Tajikistan increased by 1.7 times and reached 450,000 metric tons in the past eight months of 2014 compared to the same period of last year, Avesta.Tj reported referring to the country's ministry of Industry and New Technologies.

More than 80,000 metric tons of coal was stocked, according to the ministry's report. The coal is procured for the Dushanbe-2 combined heat and power plant for the heating season.

In 2013, coal production in Tajikistan amounted to 518,000 metric tons. Coal sales amounted to 482,000 metric tons in 2013 compared to 424,000 metric tons in 2012.
