The salaries of employees of budgetary institutions and organizations, pensions and social allowances, scholarships will be increased by an average of 10 percent in Uzbekistan from December 15, according to Uzbek President Islam Karimov's decree on Nov. 21.
The minimum salary will be set at 118,400 soums per month, the minimum old-age pension and benefits to disabled from childhood - 231,575 soums, benefits for the elderly and disabled citizens without the required work experience - 142,100 soums per month from December 15, the decree says.
All kinds of allowances and bonuses to the salaries and pensions, compensation and other payments set for the minimum salary will be recalculated from December 15 proceeding from a the minimum salary set by the decree.
The costs associated with an increase in the salaries of employees of budgetary institutions and organizations, pensions, allowances and scholarships are paid through the state budget and off-budgetary pension fund under the finance ministry.
The self-supporting associations, enterprises and organizations will increase the salaries in accordance with the minimum salary by increasing the production efficiency and reducing the costs.
Earlier, the minimum salary increased by an average of 12 percent in Uzbekistan on September 1, 2014. Then the minimum salary was set at 107,635 soums per month, the minimum old-age pension and benefits to disabled from childhood - 210,525 soums, benefits for the elderly and disabled citizens without the required work experience - 129,180 soums per month.
The official exchange rate is 2396,79 soums/$1.
