Azerbaijan and Serbia signed a protocol following the fourth meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Baku.

The protocol was signed by the co-chairmen of the commission - Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić.

The protocol envisages the continuation of cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, investments, finance, transport, energy, agriculture, information and communication technologies, health, youth, sports, etc.

"The legal framework [more than 30 documents] established between Azerbaijan and Serbia allows developing relations without any limitations and problems," Mustafayev said at a meeting. "Our countries already have some achievements in the field of economic cooperation. I would like to stress Azerbaijani investments in the highway construction in Serbia. Azerbaijan allocated a loan for this project implementation. Both sides are pleased with the successful implementation of the project. The Serbian side is willing to continue cooperation in this sphere. The Azerbaijani side is considering this opportunity."

The government of Azerbaijan allocated a loan worth 308 million euros for a period of 25 years with a three-year grace period at an annual rate of four percent per annum for the highway construction in Serbia in 2012. The construction of the highway sections E-763 - Ljig - Boljkovci, Boljkovci-Takovo and Takovo-Prelzhina is being financed at the expense of the loan.
