Kazakhstan will export goods worth $5.3 million to China under contracts signed during the “Kazakhstan-China” business forum held in Chinese Urumqi, the press service of Kazakh Invest said in a message Nov. 10.

Thirteen Kazakh manufacturers and about a hundred potential Chinese buyers participated in the business forum. Kazakh delegation included manufacturers of vehicles, fiberglass pipes, mineral fertilizers, fat and oil products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, dry milk and fruits.

Representative of Kazakh Invest Nurlan Kudiyarov noted that the current year was a breakthrough in the development of cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector.

“We are ready to assist all interested domestic producers in finding potential partners in China, especially in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, since it is the nearest market for export of Kazakh goods,” said Kudiyarov.

To date, this is already the seventh consecutive business forum held in Urumqi. Previous forums resulted with signing of contracts worth more than $70 million.

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China increased by 31 percent and amounted to $6.5 billion during the first 8 months of 2017. Exports from Kazakhstan to China amounted to $3.5 billion (an increase by 28 percent), while imports amounted to $3 billion (an increase by 36 percent).
