The Senate of Uzbekistan has approved the Act on changes and amendments to some legal acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan regarding the improvement of tax administration.

The act has been elaborated to enforce the decree of Uzbekistan's President as of July 18 of this year on measures for fundamental improvement of tax administration, tax collection, and other compulsory payments.

According to the Senate Information Service, the act serves to gradually simplify the taxation system, expand tax base, introduce new methods of tax administration.

The act supplements the Tax Code with a new section called Tax Monitoring, envisaging introduction of tax monitoring, expanded information exchange between tax agencies and bona fide taxpayers, empowering them comprehensively to address ongoing tax issues.

The act introduces changes and amendments to the Civil Code and Bankruptcy Act to apply bankruptcy procedure to individuals with tax liabilities assumed as a result of previous entrepreneurship activities and losing the status of sole proprietor, as well as to those conducting entrepreneurial activity without official registration.

The changes and amendments to the Tax Code and E-Commerce Act seek to apply mechanisms of tax control in trade and services carried out through the internet.

The changes to Public Tax Service Act and the Tax Code set an order of return or credit for extra-paid taxes and other compulsory payments within 15 business days from the date of application of a taxpayer to authorized agencies.
