Over 10 railway branches to be built in Turkey

Sixteen new railway branches will be built in Turkey as part of the government’s “Goal 2023” plan, the Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications of Turkey told Trend Feb. 2.

The ministry said that tenders have already been announced for the construction of several railway lines.

“Construction of railways in Turkey contributes to improving the transport system, and will also increase the volume of freight traffic,” added the ministry.

Earlier, it was reported that investments worth 10.8 billion Turkish liras will be put in the development of railway infrastructure in Turkey in 2018.

Currently, work is underway in Turkey on implementation of 50 transport and communications projects.
