Turkey announces date for launch of new high-speed railroad

A high-speed railway, which will connect the Turkish provinces of Sivas, Yozgat, Kirikkale and Ankara, will be put into operation on March 25, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications told Trend.

The length of the Sivas-Ankara high-speed railway will be 603 kilometers.

Presently, the length of high-speed railway lines in Turkey is 1,213 kilometers and construction of another 4,000 kilometers of railways continues.

Also, research is being conducted for the construction of additional 5,000 kilometers of railway lines.

The length of high-speed railway lines will be brought to 10,000 kilometers until 2023.

Turkey’s first railway was built in Izmir Province in 1860. Its length was 357 kilometers.
