By Anvar Mammadov - Trend:

In 2017, Azerbaijan's “Procurement and Supply of Food Products” OJSC procured products for 150 million manats, Deputy Chairman of the OJSC Khalig Mammadov told Trend.

He said that most of the products was directed to the needs of public buyers, but the rest was exported.

"Products worth 96.9 million manats were directed to the needs of state procurement. A huge work was also carried out in the direction of exports. Goods worth 54.9 million manats were exported in 2017. Also, last year we issued prepayment worth over 3.54 million manats to farmers. Thanks to the prepayment, products for 2.47 million manats, including 200,000 tons of potatoes, 58 tons of beets, as well as carrots, rice, buckwheat, beans and other products, have been received so far," Mammadov said.

He said that since the beginning of its activities the company did a lot to achieve the goals set.

"12 regional offices and 38 strongholds have been set up. To date, warehouses on an area of 19,000 square meters were built in Baku and in the regions. We fully provide ourselves with logistics services, as we have purchased 31 trucks. Contracts were signed with 865 purchasers, while the work is underway with 1,836 producers. Some 381 people were provided with permanent jobs, which are rather significant indicators for the organization, which has been operating for a little over a year, "Mammadov said.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order establishing the Open Joint Stock Company “Procurement and Supply of Food Products” in April 2016.

The OJSC was created to stimulate the production and (or) processing of agricultural products, ensure development of agricultural producers, further improve the quality of food products, ensure the rational use of public funds, create a basis for increasing social well-being of the population engaged in agriculture in the regions, ensure centralized purchase of food products upon the state order and their possible export.
