By Anvar Mammadov – Trend:

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee intends to use the Data Lake technology in its work, Head of the Main Department of Performance Measurement and Development Programs of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee Igbal Babayev told Trend May 14.

Data Lake is an element of the Big Data infrastructure, the storage of a big volume of unstructured data generated or collected by one company or state agency.

As a rule, disembodied Data Lake is stored. The companies create Data Lakes for several reasons. Among them are the need to have all the files in case of verification, the potential value of data in the future, the requirements of the law and others.

Data Lake can be stored in the servers of the company itself or in the cloud storage. As a rule, all employees have an access to data and Data Lake protection degree is low. It is expensive to maintain such a repository.

Babayev also touched upon the implementation of blockchain technology in the work of customs bodies, noting that the State Customs Committee has actually been using it for several years.

"Since 2010, we have switched to an electronic system based on the blockchain technology,” he said. “That is, one can say that we have actually been using this technology for 5-6 years, but it is still one-sided in Azerbaijan. Each state organization must have its own database, its own system for the blockchain technology to be fully implemented and everyone to be able to use this database.”

“From a legal point of view, it is possible,” Babayev said. “The technical base should be prepared. The lack of such systems in all state organizations makes full implementation of blockchain technology impossible. Active work, such as the exchange of open databases and the creation of an open government, is being carried out.”
