Azerbaijan sees increase in lending in Jan.-June

As of July 1, 2018, Azerbaijan's credit organizations increased loan disbursements by 2.95 percent up to 12,105.6 million manats compared to early 2018, the Azerbaijani Central Bank said in a report.

According to the report, the amount of overdue loans increased by 7.3 percent up to 1,745.7 million manats since early 2018. The share of overdue loans increased from 13.8 percent to 14.4 percent for the reporting period.

At the end of 2017, the loan portfolio of banks and non-banking credit organizations amounted to 11,757.8 million manats.

As for overdue loans, in 2017 the volume of overdue loans ranged from 1.6 to 1.89 billion manats.

As of early July, lending in national currency amounted to 7,425.4 million manats (a 6.8 percent increase since early 2018), while its share in the loan portfolio of banks was 61.34 percent.

Lending in foreign currency amounted to 4,680.2 million manats (a 2.58 percent decrease since early 2018) with a specific weight of 38.66 percent.

The amount of short-term loans amounted to 2,365.9 million manats, long-term loans – 9,739.8 million manats.

Meanwhile, 15 percent (1,819.4 million manats) of all loans in the country accounted for state banks in Azerbaijan, 81.7 percent (9.893 million manats) - private banks, 3.2 percent (393.2 million manats) - non-bank credit organizations.

Thirty banks operate in Azerbaijan, including two state-owned banks and about 120 non-banking credit organizations.
