The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan has held a meeting with the Ambassador of Finland Maria Elina Liimala, who arrived in Ashgabat for presenting her credentials, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
They discussed the possibility of exchange of business delegations to further enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as the issues of holding a joint business forum.
The Turkmen side expressed commitment to the development of bilateral relations and noted the positive experience of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, humanitarian spheres, the message says.
The parties agreed to intensify cooperation in the fields of trade and education.
It was proposed to hold inter-ministerial consultations in 2019 in Ashgabat. Special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation within the European Union.
Turkmenistan has intensified its interest in cooperation with the Scandinavian countries in recent years. In particular, the State Statistics Committee of the country has previously issued a message stating that the economic experience of Finland is of particular interest for Turkmenistan which is moving on to market relations.
