Sales of real estate decrease in Turkey in September

Some 127,327 real estate properties were sold in Turkey in September 2018, which is 9.2 percent less compared to the same month in 2017, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) said in a statement.

During the period, 20,216 real estate properties were sold in Istanbul, 11,368 properties in Ankara, and 6,207 properties in Izmir, the message says.

"The remaining 89,536 real estate properties fall to the share of other cities," the TUIK message reads.

It is noted that in the mentioned period, 5,615 real estate properties were sold to foreigners in Turkey, which is 151.1 percent more compared to the same month in 2017.

"In September 2018, foreigners purchased 1,799 real estate properties in Istanbul and 1,038 properties in Antalya. The remaining 2,779 real estate properties purchased by foreigners fell to the share of other cities of Turkey," the message says.

It is also noted in the message that in September, the Iraqi citizens acquired 1,351 real estate properties in Turkey, and the citizens of Iran purchased 538 properties.

"The remaining 3,726 real estate properties fall to the share of citizens of other countries," the TUIK message reads.
