Almost 90,000 tons of goods exported via Iran's Astara railway terminal

In the current Iranian year (started March 21) Iran exported 89,362 tons of goods using 1,373 railway cars, head of Astara customs administration of Iran's Gilan province Rasul Umidi said, Trend reports via IRNA.

He also noted that during the first nine months of the current Iranian year 114,901 tons of freight were brought to the customs terminal via 1,756 rail cars.

Household goods, ceramics, cement, fruit, stone and clinker were the the main Iranian exports to Azerbaijan, Russia and Georgia, while the main export goods were medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and grains, Umidi said.

Operation of trade, export, import and transport companies at the terminal will further contribute to the Astara-Astara railways.

Astara-Astara railways line was commissioned in 2018 between the Iranian and Azerbaijani towns of the same name.
