As a result of the efforts of the governor of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province and his economic assistant, the ban on apple exports was lifted, Mohammad Dehghan, head of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of West Azerbaijan, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Dehghan, there are currently about 90,000 tons of apples in the province's warehouses.

Regarding the reason for the ban on apple exports, Dehghan added that a ban was imposed on the export of this product in order to regulate the market during the Novruz holidays.

"West Azerbaijan Province ranks 1st in the production of apples in Iran," he said.

West Azerbaijan produces 800-1,2 million tons of apples a year. Marketing and sales of products are among the main problems faced by the regional business executives.
