Uzbekistan reveals its GDP deflator

Uzbekistan's GDP in January-March 2019 amounted to about 91.1 trillion soums and, compared with January-March 2018, increased by 5.3 percent in real terms, Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The GDP deflator relative to January-March 2018 prices was 120.4 percent. GDP per capita amounted to 2.73 million soums, which is 3.4 percent more than in the corresponding period of 2018.

The economic growth rate happened due to the positive dynamics in the main sectors of the economy. Gross value added (GVA), created by all sectors of the economy, accounted for 88.7 percent of total GDP and increased by 5.2 percent (contributing to GDP growth - 4.5 percentage points).

Net taxes on products amounted to 11.3 percent in the structure of GDP and showed an increase of 5.8 percent (contribution to GDP growth - 0.8 percentage points).

The largest contribution to GDP growth was made by the services sector (2.0 pp), which increased by 5.0 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

There is a 6.8 percent increase in industry in value added.

Moreover, a positive contribution to GDP growth from industrial production is estimated at 1.8 percentage points.

The positive dynamics in the industry was due to the growth of the added value of the mining industry and the development of quarries by 4.8 percent, the manufacturing industry - by 7.6 percent and other industries - by 5.5 percent.

The results of January-March 2019 demonstrated that the largest share in the structure of the gross value added of the manufacturing industry is accounted for by the metallurgical and metalworking industry (except for machinery and equipment) - 36.7 percent.

The volume of construction work increased by 5.9 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.

A positive contribution to GDP growth from the construction industry is estimated at 0.3 percentage points.

As a result of January - March 2019, there is a positive growth rate of 2.5 percent in agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

The contribution of this industry to GDP growth was 0.4 percentage points. In January-March 2019, the GDP index-deflator was 120.4 percent relative to prices in the same period of 2018.

The highest values ​​of deflator indices in the structure of GDP were recorded in industry - 138.2 percent and other services industries - 129.5 percent.

The share of the service sector in the sectorial structure of GDP was 45.1 percent and, as compared with the same period last year, decreased by 1.4 percentage points.
