Oil exports from Azerbaijan to Georgia increase

The main goods imported from Azerbaijan to Georgia in January-April 2019 were oil and oil products, which constitute 7.8 percent of the country's total imports, Trend reports with the reference to a report of the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

In January-April 2019, Azerbaijan exported 62,102 tons of oil and oil products to Georgia, while in the same period of 2018 imports amounted to 52,936 tons.

The share of oil imports at the same time decreased: in 2018, it accounted for 8.9 percent of the total imports of Georgia.

According to the report, the export value of the delivered products exceeded $34 million, compared with 2018 ($31 million).

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported products to Georgia by $235.80 million, which is 2.6 percent more than in January-April 2018. According to the report, Azerbaijan is the third largest exporter to Georgia with a share of 8.4 percent.

According to the report, Georgia’s trade with Azerbaijan in the first four months of 2019 amounted to $362.14 million, while in the same period last year it was $363.3 million.

The share of commodity turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia is 9.4 percent in the total volume of foreign trade operations of Georgia. Thus, Azerbaijan ranked third in the list of Georgia’s main trading partners.

The main articles of Georgian imports from Azerbaijan are gas, electricity, oil, cement.
