Interest in investment in Iran's Hormozgan Province increases

Interest in making investments in the industrial and mining sectors of Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province over the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) has grown, said Khalil Ghasemi, head of Hormozgan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

According to him, licenses have been issued for the creation and expansion of a total of 959 industrial enterprises to date.

Ghasemi added that 607 of them were issued last Iranian year (March 21, 2018 - March 20, 2019) and during four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 - July 22).

“With the creation or expansion of this number of industrial facilities, 29,000 people have been provided with jobs, with 16,000 of them having been provided with jobs last year and during four months of the current year,” he said.

Ghasemi said that 68 of the projects licensed for creation will be commissioned by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020).

Ghasemi added that licenses have been issued for the creation of a total of 168 projects over four months of the current Iranian year with 44.2 billion rials (app. $1 million) of investments, and that 5,760 people will be provided with jobs with the commissioning of the projects.

"Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of licensed projects increased by 3.7 percent. Meanwhile, a 7.3-percent increase was also observed in terms of the value of these projects, along with a 41-percent increase in terms of employment," he said.

Ghasemi said that steel, aluminum, cement, oil products and bitumen are the main products exported from Hormozgan Province.
