UK's power company to supply renewable energy to Western Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Artex Construction LLP and United Kingdom’s Independent Power Corporation PLC (IPC) agreed on implementation of a number of projects in Kazakhstan’s Aktau city, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Agreements were reached during the Sixth meeting of the Kazakh-UK Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation (IGC), held in London.

The meeting resulted in signing of five bilateral documents.

The first one is a Memorandum on financing investment projects in Kazakhstan with the participation of British businesses between Baiterek Holding and UK Export Finance.

Kazakhstan’s Artex Construction LLP and Independent Power Corporation PLC (IPC) signed Joint Venture Agreement to create a Clean Energy power development company focusing on a 250 MW gas fired CCGT project in Aktau city. Parties also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a Digital Joint Venture to develop a greenfield data center in Aktau where clean, uninterruptible gas fired and renewable energy is required to meet the needs of Western Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, UK’s Astra Mining and Kazgeology agreed on the exploration of three deposits in Kazakhstan, and Kazakhstan’s Aurora Mining and UK’s RPA Inc agreed on the provision of consulting services in subsoil use.
