BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 30

Azerbaijan's producer of wine Sharg Ulduzu LLC expands export of alcoholic beverages, the company told Trend.

It is mainly about exporting wine to China, a source in the company said.

“Our products are in significant demand in the Chinese market, and there is a demand not only for wine, but also for cognac. Therefore, we intend to increase the export capabilities of the enterprise, as well as the volume of deliveries to this country. Currently, we export our products to Russia and other CIS countries. This year, we made efforts to restore supplies to Mongolia and Japan, but they were not successful. The main client base of our company is located in Russia, and partially in Belarus and Ukraine. Next year, it is planned to enter new foreign markets," the representative of company said.

The company gives significant preference to increasing supplies to China, the representative said.

China is the fourth partner of Azerbaijan in foreign economic activity in term of trade; therefore, it’s logical to increase supplies to this country, especially if there is significant demand, the company said.

In 2018, Azerbaijan exported wine products worth over $5 million.

The main directions of export of Azerbaijani wine are Russia (85 percent), China (7 percent), European countries, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.

According to the State Program for the Development of Winemaking in Azerbaijan in 2018-2025 approved by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, it is planned to increase wine exports from the country by five times by 2025.
