The Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran (GSI) is ready to work on exploring mining materials for the countries of the Middle East, said Deputy Chairman of GSI organization Mohammad Bagher Dori, Trend reports citing IRNA.
According to Dori, the GSI organization has 60 years of experience and modern equipment.
Dori added that the organization's experts conducted reconnaissance operations in Tajikistan in Central Asia, Sudan and Niger in Africa, Bolivia, Venezuela and Ecuador in Latin America.
The official said that the discovery of mining reserves in the depths is currently one of the priorities. Iran can benefit from the experience of a number of countries in this area, including Australia, Canada and the Republic of South Africa.
"Most countries are not able to extract mining materials from a depth of several thousand meters. Therefore, it is necessary to use the experience of developed countries in this area," he said.
Dori said that Iran has 68 types of mining materials and about 60 billion tons of mining reserves. About 35 billion tons of it have been destroyed.
The official said that Iran produces an average of 400 million tons of minerals a year.
