Dutch company plans to introduce vertical farming technology in Uzbekistan

The Netherlands' PlantLab company is interested in implementing a vertical farming pilot project in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to Dunyo News Agency.

Details of the future project were discussed during negotiations between representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg), Agency for Foreign Investment Attraction of Uzbekistan, and administration of Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Navoi and Khorezm regions with representatives of the PlantLab company.

During the meeting, the Dutch businessmen expressed willingness to explore the possibility of introducing the vertical farming technology which is particularly in demand in areas experiencing water shortage.

Moreover, the company expressed their willingness to implement a pilot project worth about 2 million euros in Uzbekistan, as a first stage of cooperation.

The Dutch side also expressed readiness to visit Uzbekistan to study the environmental situation and hold talks with potential Uzbek partners.

In turn, the officials representing the Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Navoi and Khorezm regions spoke in detail about potential of the regions.

Following the videoconference, sides reached an agreement to arrange a visit of PlantLab delegation to Uzbekistan tentatively in the second half of September 2020.
