Azerbaijan becomes second largest supplier of olive oil to Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 17

Uzbekistan increased import of olive oil by 15.1 percent in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period of 2019 to 163 tons, Trend reports citing nuz.uz news agency.

Uzbekistan imported a total of $347,600 worth of olive oil in the first half of 2020 (down 12.1 percent on the same period of 2019).

The largest supplier of olive oil to Uzbekistan during the reporting period was Spain, which increased its exports Uzbekistan in volume by 51 percent to 122.5 tons, in value by 49 percent to $247,000.

Olive oil, but in much smaller volumes Uzbekistan also imported from Azerbaijan (13 tons for $29,100), Italy (10.3 tons for $29,600), and Russia (3.4 tons for $9,600) in the first half of 2020.

During first half of 2020, Uzbekistan increased imports of natural butter to 775.4 tons. France became the largest supplier of butter to Uzbekistan, and the largest importer of Uzbek products among EU countries. Moreover, Uzbekistan, among the largest exporters of Uzbek products in EU, has recorded a positive trade balance only with France.
