BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 27

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan’s Astana International Exchange (AIX) is looking forward to take an active part in the state assets privatization program, AIX official told Trend.

AIX official said that the company has achieved good results over the past two years.

“We have created a trading platform from scratch that provides not only high technology and expertise, but also a regulatory environment that is easy to understand for the foreign investment community,” the official said.

Official said that more than 20 brokers are currently trading members of AIX.

“We aim to take active part in Kazakhstan’s state assets privatization program. In addition, we are preparing several private companies for entering the stock exchange, and we are also working to develop a base of retail investors,” the official said.

AIX also noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on capital markets and the global economy, which could lead to an increase in the number of companies seeking funding.

“The better the capital market is, the easier and cheaper it is to raise money for business development. This allows companies to grow faster, employ more people and participate in the country's economic growth,” the AIX official said.

The official said that AIX continued to operate the trading platform amid COVID-19 pandemic.

“As for our projects, many of them have undergone changes, while others, such as the IPO of KazMunayGas, have been postponed by shareholders until there is more certainty in the markets. In general, our goals and objectives have remained the same - only the deadlines, marketing and communication tools have changed. In working with investors and issuers, we have almost completely gone into the online format and are mastering new facets of interaction,” the official said.
