Exports of Iran’s Golestan Province decreases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21

The value of exports of the Golestan Province (northeastern Iran) amounted to $44 million during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 20-August 21, 2020), Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Golestan Province Hossein Toluian said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

The chairman said that this is a decrease of 26 percent in terms value compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He added that 97,500 tons of goods were exported during the reporting period, and this is a decrease of 51 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Toluian stressed that the goods of Golestan Province were exported to 23 countries within 5 months.

“Iran's exports from Golestan Province to Turkmenistan decreased by 69 percent, to Kazakhstan by 16 percent and to Iraq by 12 percent,” he noted.

According to him, the goods worth $35 million were exported from Golestan Province to 15 countries around Iran over 5 months, and this figure is planned to reach to $115 million by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021).

The chairman emphasized the goods worth $681,000 were exported from Golestan Province to China, Syria, and Lebanon in the first five months, and this figure is planned to increase to $3 million by the end of the current Iranian year.

"The share of Golestan Province in Iran's total exports for 5 months amounted 0.36 percent," he said.

Toluian noted at the same time, 3,400 tons of goods worth $8.2 million were imported to Golestan Province over the past five months.

“The imports decreased 65 percent in terms of volume and 63 percent in terms of value in the first five months of current Iranian year compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.
