Iran still working on releasing its frozen funds from South Korea

Iran is still in talks regarding the release of its frozen funds in South Korea, but so far no deal has been finalized, the head of the Iran-South Korea Chamber of Commerce Hossein Tanhaie said, Trend reports via ILNA.

"We are in the stage of negotiations, and nothing has been implemented yet,” Tanhaie said.

"Undoubtedly, both countries are waiting for the US election results," he said. "Of course, the S.Korean authorities were already trying to somehow return the Iranian money, but so far they have not taken any action."

Regarding the exact amount of Iranian money blocked in South Korea, he said that according to the information the chamber has, it is $8.5 billion.

He went on to say that Iran has offered the bartering system to South Korea, to import prioritized food and meds into the country.

"Bartering petrochemicals, home appliances and automobiles were also offered to South Korea," said the official.
