Iran's non-oil export volume to neighbor countries via its eastern borders has increased considerably in the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020) despite sanctions and limitations caused by the coronavirus spread, said the head of foreign commerce at industries, mine and trade organization in South Khorasan Province Saeed Beheshtirad, Trend reports via IRNA.
"The total value of exported commodity from customs in South Khorasan Province in the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020) stood at $421 million and weighted 2.3 million tons," said Beheshtirad.
"The value and weight of Iran's export has increased by 66 and 45 percent respectively, compared to the same period of the past Iranian year," he said.
"The province's major goods were cement, vegetable, distilled fuel oil, hydrocarbon, tiles and ceramic, diesel, beans, salt, eggs, that were exported to Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey ,Azerbaijan and Taiwan," he said.
"A total of 4,920 trucks have transited goods from South Khorasan Province during the past eight months," he said.
"In this regard, such commodities as walnuts, mazut, urea fertilizers, solar panels, wheat flour, vegetable oil, cigarettes, chemical fertilizers, sugar, engine oil, were moved through Iran to Afghanistan," he said.
"The volume of transited commodities with regards to number of trucks and weight have increased 14 times compare to the past Iranian year," he said.
"The increase of foreign currency rate was another reason for increase of exports, while the collaboration between organizations at the Mahiroud border including customs, governorate, transportation, special economic zone and others have caused smooth and fast cargo discharge and transportation," he said.
"Afghanistan is considered a major destination for South Khorasan Province export and Iran's fifth destination country. Between 95 to 97 percent of South Khorasan Province export goods were sent to Afghanistan," he said.
