Iran expects bright outlook in trade with Europe

TEHRAN, Iran, Mar. 29

Trend:

Iran's goal is to expand commercial relations with Europe in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021), said Director general of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Behrouz Olfat, Trend reports via IRNA.

"Iran's trade relations with Europe would continue and even increase in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) of the sanctions on Iran are lifted," said Olfat.

"Expansion of trade ties would not occur if sanctions are not lifted, and therefore trade would be defined based on the current projects with the EU within the WTO," he said.

"Considerable part of Iran's export is currently destined to countries that have no specific quality standards on products, so the exporters should be qualified in this regard for exporting goods to European countries and implement changes," he said.

Olfat said there aren't any problems on Iran's side as far as expansion of trade ties with Europe is concerned.

"Our agenda is to utilize steel, petrochemical, information technology, and knowledge-based sectors," he said.

"Lifting sanctions would lead to increase of commodity and services trade, that would redefine commercial relations between the two sides," he said.
