BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.12

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s Food Security Agency (AGTA) and relevant structures continue joint measures to completely lift restrictions on the export of tomatoes and apples from the country to Russia, Trend reports referring to a source in the Entrepreneurs’ Club of the International Bank of Azerbaijan.

According to the source, at present, the export potential of Azerbaijani enterprises that are allowed to export tomatoes to Russia is 243,688 tons, which is 35.4 percent more than the volume of tomato products exported to the country in 2020.

The restrictions on the supply of tomatoes and apples from Azerbaijan were introduced on December 10, 2020 due to the systematic revealing the South American tomato moth and the eastern moth, which are dangerous for agricultural production. Later, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) lifted the ban for some Azerbaijani enterprises.

Rosselkhoznadzor has allowed the import of tomatoes from seven Azerbaijani enterprises (AGRO AZ LLC, Salmanova Goncha Barat qizi, A-K Qrup LLC, Ecofood LLC (Baku), ABSHERON AGRO 2020 LLC and Kyzylnour LLC (Absheron district, Hokmali and Mammadli settlements), as well as Eyvazov Taleh Jalal (Salyan district, Kurgaragashli village) into Russia from April 9, 2021.
