BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr.28

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Polish companies would be interested to invest in 4 non-oil sectors defined by the Azerbaijani government as the most important in diversification efforts, i.e.: agriculture, tourism, information and communications technology (ICT), transportation, Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend.

“In each of these sectors, Polish companies possess great potential, unique know-how and innovative solutions that can be value added to the Azerbaijani economy.

The Polish economy is well diversified and offers a wide range of high-quality products with a competitive quality – to price ratio. We see potential to further develop the cooperation in the agricultural sector, including in trade of food products, raw materials, machinery, electromechanical industry and many more.

The Polish and Azerbaijani companies develop effective contacts in transport and logistics sector, machine industry and chemical industry, but as well in IT, shipbuilding, tourism and electronics.

Area of innovations and new technology solutions can be seen as another sector with high potential to increase. Poland with its current innovations and startups support programs is now the best place for the young high-tech companies interested in developing their business and ideas in EU. Polish investors, venture capital and private equity funds are actively looking for attractive investment targets and innovative projects around the world. Azerbaijani startups and innovative entrepreneurs could take advantage of this offer and opportunities.

We see the potential to further develop the cooperation in the agricultural sector, including in trade of food products, food processing, raw materials machinery and transportation. Polish manufacturers offer modern quality equipment at competitive prices and have been delivering agricultural machinery to Azerbaijan. Exchanging experience under the twinning projects is an option too. Poland is a partner in three EU member states consortium in the project dedicated to strengthening the institutional capacity for implementing effective state support measures in agricultural sector and rural development of Azerbaijan. Under this twinning project we are sharing our knowledge on the evolution of the state support schemes within the EU, best practices and provide advice for Azerbaijani. The Polish and Azerbaijani companies develop effective contacts in transport and logistics sector, machine and chemical industries, but also in IT, shipbuilding, tourism and electronics,” said the ministry.
