Iran unveils details of dairy products export

Iran exported 430,000 tons of milk and dairy products worth $367 million over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), the director general of the Trade Information Services Department of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Abbas Khalegitabar said, Trend reports citing the organization.

The director general noted that Iran exported 130,000 tons of milk worth $103 million, 24,000 tons of technical dry milk worth $49 million and 70,000 tons of yogurt worth $30 million during last Iranian year.

“In addition, Iran exported 65,000 tons of buttermilk worth $25 million, 88,000 tons of cheese worth $107 million and 9,000 tons of dry milk for baby worth $21 million,” he added.

Khalegitabar noted that at the same time, 25,000 tons of cheese juice worth $13 million, 9,000 tons of sour cream worth $7 million were exported from Iran in the last Iranian year.

These products were mainly exported to Iraq (59 percent), Afghanistan (16 percent), Pakistan (11 percent), Syria (5 percent), Russia (2 percent) and other countries (7 percent), according to the official.

As reported, Iran's total foreign trade turnover amounted to about 146 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year. During this period, Iran exported 112 million tons of goods worth about $35 billion and imported 33.4 million tons worth $38.4 billion.
