Value of Iran’s exports grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The value of Iran’s exports increased by 46 percent from March 21 through May 15, 2021, Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi told IRIB, Trend reports.

According to Mirashrafi, Iran exported 15.5 million tons of goods worth $5.6 billion during the reporting period.

The director-general added that moreover, Iran imported 4.5 million tons of goods worth $5.6 billion in the same period. The imports increased by 28 percent in terms of value.

“Currently there are 4.5-5 million tons of essential products at the port of entry. The main reason for these products to remain in the port of entry was the lack of currency and the lack of registration of the release of products. So, before the new US sanctions against Iran, products remained at the port of entry for about 20 days. At present, this period is reached 50 days,” he said.
