The Azerbaijan Cabinet of Ministers accomplished preparation of the draft Regulations on establishing the Maritime Administration, the government told Trend .
The Maritime Administration established by the presidential decree will cover activities of all bodies, possessing their own vessels and operating on the Caspian Sea and in other regions.
It will represent Azerbaijan at international organizations, particularly, at IMO, the International Maritime Organization and regulate the relations between the subjects in Azerbaijan and beyond.
Between Azerbaijan and IMO about 34 documents have been signed today. The work for enforcement of these agreements and conventions will be held by the newly established Maritime Administration.
The Caspian Shipping Company has its own fleet: ferries, dry cargo vessels, tanker fleet and special vessels. Besides, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has also its own vessels (research ones), Caspmornefteflot owns vessels designed for off-shore operations by the oil companies and the State Border Service of Azerbaijan has them too. Private companies own fishing boats.
