Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Aliyev / Jeyhun Abdullayev, the head of Baku passenger transport, stated that currently, some 7000 cars are operating as taxis in Baku. According to Abdullayev, most of those cars do not meet safety standards and environmental demands.
At present, Star, Az.Serg-trans, Inter and other companies will bring more comfortable taxis to Baku. Due to the few numbers of such taxis the companies cannot scrap the old ones. Taking this into consideration the companies are holding negotiations with world known producers of automobiles, including Mercedes, Skoda, Volkswagen and others.
