Political Body to Supervise Nabucco Project

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 April / Trend corr. A.Badalova / The Hungarian company MOL stated about its intension to create a political body which will supervise after the gas pipeline project Nabucco after is development, Thomson Financial News reported.

According to the company, the new body would give the project the necessary impulse and provide it the political support.

The group will consist of representatives of six Nabucco member-countries, Azerbaijan and European Union.

OMV is the operator of Nabucco with 20% shares. With a length of 4,000km, the Nabucco gas pipeline will ensure gas delivery via the Mediterranean and Caspian Sea to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tbilisi, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Austria. Operation of the gas pipeline will commence in 2011. The project is estimated at €5bln. Nabucco is developed by the companies of OMV, MOL ( Hungary), Botas ( Turkey), Bulgargaz ( Bulgaria) and Transgaz ( Romania).
