Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 June / Trend corr A. Badalova/ "The participants of the Nabucco gas pipeline project want Turkey to become a gas transit country in the project," Bulgarian Minister for Economy & Energy Petar Dimitrov said in Baku on 4 June.

"It is very important to know exactly from where Nabucco will start. It may start from Azerbaijan, but it also may start from Turkey, which are different things. Turkey will purchase gas the way it wants (on agreed prices) to sell it to other countries," Dimitrov said.

According to Dimitrov, all gas supply routes of Nabucco go via Turkey. "Therefore, it is important to decide whether Turkey will be a transit country or re-exporting country," Minister said.

"Nabucco and South Stream gas pipelines will be insufficient to meet Europe's gas demand," Bulgarian Minister said. "EU dependence on gas import will be increasing. The projects will provide 1/3 part of Europe's extra gas demand by 2020 and 1/5 part by 2030," Dimitrov said.
