Official  Baku Says Laying of Nabucco Gas Pipeline via   Armenia Impossible

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 September/ Trend , corr I. Alizade/ Nabucco gas pipeline which will deliver Azerbaijani and Central Asian gas to Europe, can not be laid through Armenia.

"The route of Nabucco has already been determined. It will run through territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia, onwards Turkey, Greece up to Italy," Ali Hasanov, head of Socio-political Department of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan said to journalists.

Ankara and Yerevan has reached agreement to lay Nabucco gas pipeline through Armenia's territory, Turkish media reported.

Azerbaijan has no any proposals on changing route of the gas pipeline, Hasanov said.

"Today we do not see any need to make any proposals on change in the route of the gas pipeline. Official Baku has repeatedly stated that Azerbaijan will not cooperate with Armenia also in the sphere of realization of transnational projects until Armenia frees occupied lands of Azerbaijan and peace is established in Caucasus" he added.

The participants of Nabucco include the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE. Each of the participants holds equal shares - 16.67% each. Nabucco project worth $12.4bln is expected to deliver gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to EU by 2013. The large energy company Gaz de France is also interested in obtaining part of the gas transported via this gas pipeline.
