Azerbaijan, Baku, December 1/ Trend , corr E. Ismayilov/ At early 2009, Bail Limani drilling unit of SOCAR will launch drilling of high flow rate gas wells in Guneshli offshore field developed by the company independently, a source in the company said.
"Much work remains to do next year. The drilling of two wells in Gunashli field will be launched in January," a source said.
News wells will be drilled from Gunashli-19 and Gunashli-14 platforms. The depth of both wells will make up 2,800 m. The planned flow rate is about 500,000 cu m of gas each.
Since the beginning of the year, as many as 11 high flow rate wells has been put into operation in Gunashli field developed by SOCAR independently, chief of the Oil and Gas Department of SOCA Rahman Gurbanov said.
Gunashli field is old. But efforts are made to maintain stabile rate of gas production. The plan on gas production for this year to be supplied by the 28 May oil and gas extracting unit who develops Gunashli field, will be fulfilled by 95%-96%.
Gunashli is the largest oil and gas field developed by SOCAR. The field accounts for 60% of oil and 70% of gas developed by SOCAR.
New wells are drilled under the Program of Development of Oil and Gas Extracting Unit (2008-2009) which develops Gunashli field. Oil production is expected to be stabilized and output of a natural gas is expected to be increased in accordance with the program.
