Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 Dec/ Trend corr E. Ismayilov/ SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has installed second bloc of double-unit Umid-1 platform on perspective Umid offshore gas and condensate field, a source in SOCAR said.
"The bloc has already been installed. It is not available yet when the equipment for platform will be installed. Everything depends on the plant producing this equipment," a source said.
Neftgazstroy trust of SOCAR constructs dwelling and consumer blocs of a new platform. Both blocs consist of three stages. The consumer bloc will include dining room, bakery, and sport hall and food storages. Both blocs are being constructed by Metal Constructions Plant located in construction and mounting site in Zikh settlement.
Helicopter site is expected to be constructed by the Deep Water Jacket Plant named after Heydar Aliyev.
Supports of the bloc are also being constructed by the Deep Water Jacket Plant.
Umid perspective field is owned by the N. Narimanov oil and gas extracting unit.
The drilling is expected to begin in March 2009. Earlier the drilling was expected to begin by the end of 2008. The key reason for delay in drilling is the delay in construction of the platform. Five wells are planned to be drilled from the platform.
The exploitation of Umid offshore platform is necessary within the realization of program on the increase in gas output developed independently. SOCAR plans to produce 8bln cu meters of gas in 2008, 7bln of which will be delivered to the government.
Umid-1 platform built on the base of unfinished Chiraq-6 platform is the largest facility within the program with a height of 71 meters. The platform will be installed 15km of Bulla Daniz field at the depth of 58 meters. A total of six gas wells are expected to be drilled from the platform.
The total assumed gas reserves in Umid offshore field is evaluated at 200bln-300bln cu meters.
