Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 24 / Trend / Azerenergy joint stock company put into exploitation Sangachal Modular Power Station with 300MW capacity near Baku on Dec. 24. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the station.
The Finnish company Warstila was involved in the construction of the power station in Sangachal. The station consists of 18 units each with capacity of 17MW.
The Finnish Wartsila company has proposed a new technology to switch the modular power station in Sangachal from gas to fuel oil and vice versa, which would profoundly speed up the process. Earlier, the company offered to switch to 24-hour routine, which was later cut to 30- minutes trough the new technologies.
Construction of new power station near Baku will ensure qualitative and regular energy supply to rapidly developing Baku and Absheron peninsula.
