Schedule of planned stoppages in Azerbaijani oil shipment via Baku-Novorossiysk

Transport of Azerbaijani oil via Baku-Novorossiysk will be stopped three times for total of 24 hours in July due to planned technical work, a source at the oil and gas market said.

"The oil transport via this pipeline will be stopped three times this month. In total oil transport will be stopped for 24 hours," a source said.  

He said transport via the pipeline will be stopped on July 13, 17 and 24 for 8 hours each.

About 248,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil with daily shipment of 8,000 tons will be transported via the pipeline in July. Under the plan, the oil will be transported from July 1 to July 27, a source said.  

According to estimations, 240,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil will be shipped via the pipeline in August, 140,000 tons in September, 248,000 tons in October, 240,000 tons in November and140,000 tons in December.  

SOCAR also pumps own oil via Novorossiysk port. In January-May, SOCAR exported more than 1 million tons of oil via Baku-Novorossiysk compared to about 568,000 tons during the same period of 2008. Over 224,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil was exported in May.  

SOCAR intends to increase oil exports through Baku - Novorossiysk to 2.5 million tons in 2009 compared to about 1.3 million tons in 2008.

Azerbaijan gets Urals oil mixed with oil of other producers from the Novorossiysk port.

The operator of the pipeline was Azerbaijan International Operating Company till end of 2007 which handed it over to SOCAR later.
