In January-November 2009, the United States imported about 22.97 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan compared to roughly 24.44 million barrels in the same period of 2008, the U.S. State Energy Information Agency (EIA) reported.

The EIA reports the U.S. imported over 26.8 million barrels of oil in 2008 compared to over 20.6 million in 2007. This figure made up 9.7 million barrels of oil in 2006.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is a key export route which delivers oil to the Turkish Ceyhan port.
The Azerbaijani light oil is exported from the Georgian Supsa port.
Oil is exported from the Georgian Black Sea Batumi port to where it is delivered from Baku via railway, from Novorossiysk port via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
