Rompetrol Georgia opened today modernized tank farm in Tbilisi. The Minister of Energy Alexander Khetaguri, who attended the opening ceremony, said that Rompetrol expands its gas stations network in Georgia, which will increase competition.

Rompetrol Georgia opened today modernized tank farm in Tbilisi. The Minister of Energy Alexander Khetaguri, who attended the opening ceremony, said that Rompetrol expands its gas stations network in Georgia, which will increase competition.

"The company has undertaken considerable work and has made significant investments," he said.

The Rompetrol group director general Saduokhas Meraliyev said that the company will conduct reconstruction of the second tank farm in Georgia, to which $4 million will be allocated.

"Despite the financial crisis, the Company hasn't stopped investment in Georgia and, along with investment, will modernize the second tank farm and invest $4 million in this project. Meanwhile, we are conducting reconstruction of our oil refinery in Romania, which will allow us to import new products into Georgia," Meraliyev said.

The new tank farm is located near the Tbilisi Airport. Its reconstruction was carried out within six months. Ecological and fire-prevention systems fully meet modern requirements. The tank farm  is equipped with equipment from the Ukraine, Turkey, France.

The tank farm, in modernization of which was invested $2 million, is designed for reception, storage and delivery of fuel, to its own network of filling stations, and corporate and wholesale customers.

The tank farm's storage capacity was increased from 6,000 to 9,500 cubic meters, and download time reduced from 10 to 2 hours.
