Ecology department of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has monitored the contract site of Shirvan Operating Company Limited in accordance with the environmental policy of the company, the official site of the department said.
According to information, monitoring was carried out to assess the environmental conditions in the contract area, study the dynamics of changes that may occur at the operated sites and surrounding areas during the period of the company's activities.
During the monitoring, samples were taken from soil, water and sediment in order to study the chemical composition of soils polluted with oil, hydro-chemical composition of surface waters of the Kura River and Shirvan collector, as well as the chemical composition of sediment. All samples taken for analysis were transferred to the complex research laboratory of the department.
