Azerbaijan, Baku, April 11 / Trend E.Ismayilov /
The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will extract 4 million cubic meters of gas a day from the country's underground storage facilities as of April 11, compared to 12 million cubic meters as of March 11, a source in SOCAR said on Monday.
Reducing the gas extraction volume is associated with the improved weather conditions and a reduction in gas consumption.
Azerbaijan has two underground gas storage facilities - Garadag and Kalmaz.
The source said that the company extracts gas from only the Kalmaz gas storage facility; SOCAR suspended gas extraction from the Garadag gas storage facility.
The total amount of the residual gas in underground storage facilities is around 1.27 billion cubic meters, of which 705.24 million cubic meters are in Garadag and the remaining 563.94 million cubic meters in Kalmaz, the source said.
Based on the company's plan, gas extraction from the facilities should be completed on
April 15.
