Turkmenistan, Gazprom review contract realization

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov and Gazprom Deputy Chairman Valery Golubev met in Ashgabat on 25 April to review the implementation of the current contract.

They expressed interest in expanding the partnership, the Turkmen government reported.

Berdimuhammedov confirmed Turkmenistan's interest in building a mutually beneficial partnership with Russian companies, including Gazprom, that possess huge production and technological capabilities. The country's cooperation with Gazprom has been rewarding for the gas industry.

Golubev stressed that Gazprom seeks to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan in the energy sector. "Russia highly values ​​ growth in large-scale socio-economic reforms carried out in Turkmenistan and growing strength of the economy key sectors, which is dynamically integrated into international relations and the multifaceted economic partnership system," he added.

The sides discussed the implementation of agreements on natural gas supplies to Gazprom in 2011.

Golubev stressed that the pricing principle in the Turkmen gas purchase adopted upon Berdimuhammedov's initiative yields results. The Turkmen natural gas supplies quality and scale shift in the right direction thanks to the changes.

Berdimuhammedov and Golubev exchanged views on prospects for expanding mutually advantageous partnership with the Russian gas holding company given the priorities of Turkmenistan's energy policy. They discussed ways of cooperation in implementing new infrastructure projects in the oil and gas industry, as well as gas and chemical industry development in Turkmenistan.

Berdimuhammedov directed relevant officials of the fuel and energy sector by laying in detail conditions for the realization of joint projects in these areas .

Golubev said the constructive nature of the talks once again showed the continuity of the friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
