Tajik MPs hold a meeting at Turkmengas

Member of the Tajik parliament held meetings at the Ministry of oil and gas industry and mineral recourses of Turkmenistan and Turkmengas state company during their visit to Ashgabat, Neytralniy Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday.

Tajiki delegation also had talks at the Medjlis (parliament) of Turkmenistan, to exchange views on prospective of bilateral cooperation, in particular consolidation of inter-parliamentary relations.

Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are studying prospects of co-operation in energy sector and transport and communication sphere on intergovernmental level taking into account its geographical location and transit-transport possibilities

This issue was discussed during a private meeting between Presidents Gurbanguli Berdimuhammadov of Turkmenistan and Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan in Tehran in March. The heads of states took part in Novruz holiday festivities in Iran.

Participants in Ashgabat meeting supported further development of trade-economic co-operation on long term basis. The joint projects are discussed within framework of intergovernmental commission of the two states, whose activities became more active.

Tajikistan experiences insufficiency in electricity, the largest supplier of which in Central Asia is Turkmenistan.

The existing transport infrastructure allows Ashgabat to export this kind of electricity to Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran and Central Asia. Dushanbe is also interested in purchase of recycled products of Fuel and Energy Complex Turkmenistan.
