Israeli delegation discusses fuel-energy complex issues in Ashgabat

An official Israeli official headed by the Director General for Relations with International Organisations of the Foreign Ministry Pinchas Avivi held meetings with top managers of the Turkmen fuel-energy complex and other departments, local media said on Wednesday. Israel has taken an active part in the reconstruction of the largest oil refinery in Turkmenbashi.

A meeting was held at the Turkmengaz State Company's offices with the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations and the Agriculture Ministry during the visit to Ashgabat, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

This facility has been recently reconstructed to the sum of more than $1.6 billion while making investments in a number of banks in Europe and Asia. Contract work was carried out by Japan, Turkey, France, Germany, Israel, Iran and other countries.

The state news agency Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary reported on Wednesday that the Israeli delegation was also received by the Parliament of the country.

'The guests urged establishing close inter-parliamentary relations to strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the two countries', a statement said.

The representative delegation was received at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry. Issues of expanding mutual cooperation in the long term prospect were discussed.

'The progressive peace making nature of a foreign policy strategy pursued by neutral Turkmenistan contributes to the steady development of bilateral relations', a statement said.
