According to the instruction of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Energy Ministry is working to prepare for the winter season, an official Turkmen source said on Friday.
At the government meeting the president drew attention to "the need to take all measures to ensure that in the winter time people do not experience shortages of heat and electricity."
According to State Statistics Committee, on the Energy Ministry the growth rate from January to July 2012, compared with last year amounted to 118.2 percent, electricity generation -107.1 percent.
Electric-power industry is one of the leading sectors of national economy, which is designed to fully meet the needs of industry, agriculture, social sector of Turkmenistan, as well as increasing the volume of exports.
At this stage, work is underway to create a loopback power system, reconstruction and modernization of a number of power plants, the introduction of advanced energy saving technologies.
Transport capacity at this stage allows the country to export electricity to Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Central Asia, the design with respect to the development of energy supplies to Pakistan is ongoing.
In line with the strategy of development of the sector by 2030 the level of electricity generation in Turkmenistan is projected to reach 35.5 billion kw / h.
