Decrease in production and consumption of oil products in Turkey

Production of petrol and diesel fuel in Turkey in September decreased by 5.8 per cent reaching one million tons compared to the previous month, the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority said today.

Oil product production for the period decreased by 5.6 per cent to two million tons.
Production of oil products increased by 2.8 per cent reaching 16.3 million tons from January to September compared to the same period in 2011.

Petrol consumption in Turkey in September decreased by 12 per cent and hit 163,000 tons compared to the previous month. Diesel fuel consumption in September reduced by three per cent to 1.3 million tons.

Petrol consumption dropped by 6.1 per cent to 1.4 million tons in January-September 2012. Diesel fuel consumption for the period grew by 6.4 per cent to 11.5 million tons.

The average price of petrol in Turkey in September increased by 2.7 per cent reaching 4.59 lira per litre compared to the previous month. The price of diesel fuel increased by 1.8 per cent to 3.92 lira per litre.

The official exchange rate is 1.7936 TRY/USD on Nov. 15.
