SOCAR determines contractor for construction of carbamide plant in Azerbaijan

Before the end of the year, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) can decide the winner of the tender announced for the construction of carbamide plant in Azerbaijan (Sumgait), senior representative of SOCAR told Trend.

He noted that currently bidding procedure continues, and a large package of proposals submitted by the various foreign companies is still being considered. There are European, American, Japanese and Korean companies among the bidders.

"The document review is still continues, a very large package of proposals is submitted by all companies. It is possible that the decision will be made by the end of the year," the representative of the State Oil Company said.

Referring intentions of SOCAR to build similar carbamide plant in Georgia, SOCAR representative said the question of the construction of both plants by the same company is still remains open.

The plants will be the same in all respects, particularly in terms of production. Total annual capacity of the plants will be 1.2-1.3 million tons. Direct construction work is scheduled to begin later this year.

SOCAR has been doing researches in this field for three years in order to implement this project. In this regard, the State Oil Company experts have studied the experience of other countries that have already created carbamide production. In particular, SOCAR specialists visited Egypt, Iran, and also traveled to Amman during the preparation of the project.

Carbamide - environmentally friendly and the most common form of nitrogen fertilizer. It is safe in terms of usage and health.
